Hybrid single row deep groove ball bearings with low friction seals on both sides have rings made of bearing steel and rolling elements made of bearing grade silicon nitride (Si3N4), which provides electrical insulation of the bearings. Low friction seals provide higher sealing efficiency than shields and non-contact seals, which allows for a significantly longer bearing service life, but they can be operated at the same speeds as shields. Silicon nitride elements not only protect against electrical damage, but also, compared to bearings of the same size with steel rolling elements, provide improved performance and extended bearing service life, higher operating speeds, high bearing wear resistance and rigidity, reduced risk of scuffing and false brinelling, and reduced sensitivity to temperature changes, making them suitable for use in difficult conditions and contaminated environments.
