Self-aligning ball bearings with seals on both sides have two rows of balls, a common spherical raceway on the outer ring, and two raceways on the inner ring. They are insensitive to angular misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing. Built-in seals can significantly increase the service life of the bearing by keeping the lubricant inside and preventing contaminants from the environment from entering it.
