Self-aligning ball bearings with a tapered bore have two rows of balls, a common spherical raceway on the outer ring, and two raceways on the inner ring. They are insensitive to angular misalignments of the shaft relative to the housing, which can occur, for example, due to shaft deformation. The tapered bore simplifies installation using clamping or withdrawal sleeves.
